Alex Here...
Sam & I decided to hit the local waters again. This time for Barred Surfperch. Timing seemed just right for local perch action to peak. I've alway had my luck between December and March in areas with high waves.
After morning prayer for good luck, Sam and I endulged ourselves to IHOP pancakes. Didn't want to get hungry when action pick up. By the way, I pickup a new PDA last night to replace my "Wet PDA & Digital Camera" (hence more pictures from my phone camera).
After a much discussion, we decided to hit the North waters. I will not name the location, but those who know the area will be able to pick out the location.
We settled on North waters and arrived at about 11:30 AM. I wanted Sam to experiance large slab action, rather than 3-6 inch deals.
After about 30 minutes of gearing up, we hit the water at about 12 noon. Originally, we were using Power Bait (blood warm). We were getting hits, but they were all small. No FUN here....
We decided to go with LC (see picture below) thinking that we may get lucky and get some halibut and/or big slabs. (Right Decision )
Actually, the first fish of the day was a small halibut. Soon after, we got slammed with bites from large slab perches. Sam was treated with his first legit perch action. :EyePop: Man, I was happy to see him all happy. Well worth the trip.

The bite was furious and they mostly averaged between 11 to 14 inches. There were times when, we were getting hits on every casts. I would have to say the bites were most furious at about 2:30 PM.

At about 3 PM, we decided that we had enough. Good day of fishing. No keeper halibuts but we were not going for them for this water is not well known for legal halibuts in high frequecy.
