Two thoughts, he will need a four stroke engine to get on those two lakes.
Get there earlier than noon.

For Diamond Valley Lake
$7.00 fee entry/parking and fishing access permit fee $3.00 = $10.00

No private boat allowed due to water level.

Rental boat available
Basic boat $30/hour, $55.00 half day, $70.00 all day

Bass boat (with fish finder, etc.)
$40/hour, $95 half day, $120 full day

Pontoon Boat
$50/hour, $125 half day, $160 full day

Deposit required to rent any boats $100.00 deposit

I don't know about Lake Perris' fees.

So, Good luck out there! D.V.L. is the hottest bite trout and LMB....LMB fish is chasing trout while boiling on the lake. Striper is sometime good and bad. I belief in March 2009 will be biggest stripers will shown up.

2 strokes are good at perris it is dvl and skinner that u need the 4 strokes or optimaxs and they are not private fish farms like irvine and corona but dfg does stock them a little bit.

I think Perris Lake's entrance fee is still 8 bucks for daytime use.

There is one other difference between the pay lakes and Perris, DVL, or Skinner. You need a 2009 fishing license to fish them.
