Originally I planned to hit up Skinner with AmpMan today, but he couldn’t make it. Not wanting to waste a good day off work, I decided to hit Hemet Lake again, but with my daughters and a couple of their cousins. I’ve been promising my niece that I would take her fishing, so I finally decided to make due on my promise. We got to the lake around 8:45 and I was able to get my usual spot. I finally got my line wet around 9:15 (it’s not easy to do with 4 kids) and got my first hookup at 9:30. I handed it over to my nephew to reel it in. It ended up being the largest one of the day. There was no wind when we got there, but at around 10am, it started up and never stopped. It made it hard to cast as it was blowing towards us. We ended up leaving at 2:30 with everyone catching a fish and me catching 3 (because they would get bored and go walking right before a hookup)

My niece's first fish ever:

My biggest fish (the only one without a bunch of dots. Camera does it no justice):

Nephew's fish:

Hitting the snow on the way out:

All fish were caught on the usual (inflated nightcrawlers). 3 of the 7 fish were larger than most of the fish I have ever caught there. They were definitely larger than any of the ones I caught last month. Hopefully this is a good sign for the coming year.

Nice report!

I will show my daughters to seeing your pictures and make them come to fishing with me tomorrow, lol. Wondering is the snow still there? My kids loved play the snow. lol

Always great, getting the kids into some fish. Those group shots are worth getting framed.

The snow is right before the lake as the lake is a little lower on the mountain. The weekend before Christmas there was snow around the lake. I'm sure if we get another cold storm through there will be some snow around the lake again.

Yeah, I'm thinking about taking them to Silverwood on Sunday to try for some striper. I miss catching those and I need to break my shore fishing skunk streak over there. I have only caught fish from a boat there.
