Use 20lb or 25lb for the BBZ. That rigging works well at times for trout. If you check out the lip ripperz website you can find other ways to rig it too.

did you buy the BBZ??? Because you need a setup capable of throwing 15+ pound test.

Just wondering why such heavy test line for trout on that bait? Still learning it's like fishin for tuna or somethig. Thanks if you can help.

He said, use 20-30 for the BBZ (A bass bait) But he also said that the jig head was a good rigging for trout.

you're going to need a different setup for the BBZ... something a bit heavier. Ohh and Pudd fisher, the BBZ isn't a trout bait, it's a big bass bait....

I only buy smaller swimbaits so i don't have to buy a new setup, the tru tungsten 4' is a good one. my rod can actually throw the BBZ shad but it might put too much stress on it

For ease of use, drop shot or carolina rig the lip ripperz, 25-30lb test or 50-70 braid for the BBZ with a 7ft + H or XH rod. Waking the BBZ is easy, especially if you have a nice high gear ratio reel. Lip Ripperz 4lb max line with either the drop shot or carolina/splitshot rig.

As far as Lip Ripperz, Ya picked a good color that works well in most lakes around you. The only advise i would give you is to use 2lb test line. Ya really need it as it gives the lures alot more action and produces 3x more strikes. GL Rob > Rooster

Some say 25 pound test some say 2 pound test. Good night I had to watch the grandkids last night and I'am so tired, they would not give me a break.

its two different lures, if you're still confused. the lil ripperz, i think you know what they are, trout worms. two pound line for that. BBZ is a 4 inch shad swimbait and if you toss that with anything under i'd say 14, you'll lose it. see you around at the pudd sometime

a swimbait set up is for the big baits like the bbz and other swimbaits.your regular bass rods will break if you cast those things out out you line will snap..if you want to get the distance and the strength or backbone you need a long at least 7'6 heavy or x-heavy rod something rated at least 15-30lb good luck.

Buy a quality swimbait setup! Trying to skimp will only cause you frustration and anger later on (an on nice fish). I started using some Cabela's baitcaster and destroyed it in 2 months. There went $50... so I got Calcutta 400. Spend the $ on a Cardiff 400 (step down from the Calcutta but still good) and an Okuma 7'11H swimbait rod. It'll be a much more pleasant experience. That is about as cheap as you can go price wise (about $200) while maintaining decent quality.

Try putting some cheeze on them thar hooks on the bbz lure. And then put a bobber on the 100lb test line and then go to balboa park and then catch some trout and then go home and then eat the fish and then ,,,,,,,,,,,,,.............. uh uh uh yea...

you're gonna spend a lot of money for a swimmy setup bro. xh or xxh rod about 7'6 (transportation is going to be an issue, tiny cars can't bring it) can't use a regular spinning reel or even a low profile baitcaster, but some can like the curado 300. then heavy line sometimes braid with topshot or whatever.

rod minimum: $150
reel minimum: $120

these are MINIMUMS for decent setups... and you never want to go minimum, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for

Drop shot that worm!

Trout love it, and the bass and bluegill will hit it once in a while.

Well it is good to see that the Okuma and the Cardiff are recommended. I was gonna go out and buy the two today because I want to start using the swimbaits.
