Long Beach But

Well I decided last night to head down to long beach and try targeting some halibut got up at 4 am shuffled around and left the house at 6 am got to my bait spot and spent 30 minutes dip netting some good and hearty 3 to 4 inch smelt I always found them to last long in the bait well and also on the hook. Jump back in my truck and head to Davies and launch the boat at 7 am headed out to my first spot and drifted it for nada tried some new spots and finely get hook up heavy carpet then the head shake this feels like the right kind got it to the surface and this thing is the biggest I have ever caught or seen in person then it went crazy meanwhile I’m trying to grab the gaff got it stick him good and onto the boat he goes and it goes nuts again in the trashing around knock over every thing that got in its way it was almost as wide as my boat and tap out the measuring tape in my boat, made a couple more drift for nothing and decided to catch some mac for lobster bait and head in at 3pm good times.

Nice fish Dwayne.....LB has been kickin out some really nice flatties! Glad you were able to get such a nice one! Those big ones go crazy once in the boat, we have learned to leave them on the gaff and straight into the cooler, they can do some damage to the boat, your feet and leggs! Not to mention they can flip back outta the boat, amazing on the air they can get !
