there are quite a few ways to fish these.....local sand bass, i use 8-12 lb test, and fish nothing but wham lures, in the green.....another common setup for the sand bass is a dropper loop set up, with a 3-4 oz weight.....BUT, many times, you can catch sand bass flylining (no weight)...you just need to see whats happening on the trip that youre on, and go from there...peace

I PREFER # 6..USE A 1/4-1/2 OZ WHAM HEAD OR COTTEE HEAD(YELLOW)..SOMETIMES, YOU MAN NEED HEAVIER...

THE WEIGHT GOES ON THE LOOP, THE HOOK GET TIED TO THE END OF THE MAIN LINE

There is the Dropper Loop & the Reverse Dropper Loop....

Often in So Cal they use the Reverse Dropper Loop (very Common). Hook in the Loop, weight at bottom........

But I often use the Dropper Loop also. Weight in loop, Hook at bottom... Works better for Sculpin and Ling Cod...

the knot in the picture is a dropper loop. reverse dropper loop is tied differently. search google for an accurate picture/demonstration.

Dropper Loop = hook goes in the loop and weight on the tag end

Reverse Dropper Loop = weight in the loop and hook on the tag end

Most people on boat use the reverse dropper loop just that they are to lazy to say the whole phrase "reverse dropper loop", so they just say dropper loop.

you can fish it both ways....when rockfishing, the hook/hooks DO in fact go on the loop.....
