Favorite Music Download Site?

What is your favorite music download site and why?

Are there any sites which charge only for downloads - and no monthley fee?

I can't get "Walking With and Ghost" out of my head, so, I think I'm gonna have to buy it... I just can bring myself to buy an entire Tegan and Sara album. (and although I dig the White Stripes, I think they kinda missed the mark with their version.)

A lot of PC users have issues with a lot of peer to peer applications stuffing their PCs with adware and spyware and such.

On the Mac side, I use either bit torrent applications (Like XTorrent) or old school peer to peer (AquisitionX) to download music.

Torrents are one one of the best sources for finding obscure music.

But my very favorite source for music online are the Newsgroups. Been around since before the Web.

Maybe it's because I don't own a mp3 player other than my phone but I don't really download music too much. Whenever there is a song I want to hear and I have a computron handy I just go to youtube.

Newsgroups are great. You generally have to pay for a limit of gigs you can download per month but you can get movies music video games and all alot faster than limewire or any torrent site(usually)

You have to connect to the right servers. Abundant download strings available after you disable your firewall. It handles torrents as well.

I've been a mobile DJ for 22 years. While I don't have strong "be honest to the music companies" feelings, I do have strong "Do the right thing and don't steal music" feelings. Particularly when legal music on walmart.com or amazon.com is only .89 or .99 cents per song. (I use both). Also, I have lost two computers to viruses and can link one of them to bad download sites (not porn!).

Avoid those P2P sites. They are a very bad thing.
