Went out in the morning just before it really blew, got 2 short Halibut and one 28 inch flattie.Tried many times to get photo on here( Whats the trick< I have photobucket, copied IMG code and photo but it won't transfer like other sites)
Wanted to show that use of a good net(Promar) will not damage fins. Oh well

Good to see someone thinking about that...
I got worn out saying it here!!!
I cringe every time I see it (and its often)...

Fine mesh or Rubber (trout like) nets do a lot less damage to the Hali Tail fins, the common fishing nets SPLITS the tail fins, and they are as good as dead, (fin rot)...........
A good lip gripper is even better.........

Of course the obligatory shot of a hand in the gill is just as bad or worse...

good point Nessie.

Hand in the gill for photo, then into the bait tank where it survives just fine ,even on the trailer ride home. Thats the freshest it gets on the grill. :Envious::Cool::Big Grin:

I think Nessie was making the point: "why be careful with a net if you are going to stick your fingers in the gills?" Obviously, if you plan on keeping it, it doesn't really matter what kind of net you use as long as it works. Same goes for the fingers in the gills.

Glad to hear you kept it...and I completely agree, it doesn't get any fresher than that! Congrats on the keeper!

Nice pic and thanks for the post.
Good job on them butts.

I want to get me one of them rubber nets and a De Hooker.
I use a Boga lip Griper/Scale. Them things work real nice. You hardly feel the headshaken and kickin with them things.
Anything short, or not worth taking a picture of gets released without ever leaving the water also.
