This is a very special recipe my father introduced to me when I was a little boy and have enjoyed having it on a yearly basis while growing up and whenever we went up to Mammoth. And the best part is that now that I'm a dad, I've introduced it to my kids and they LOVE it too!!!

Here goes:

1) Go to Schat's bakery and buy a loaf of Sheepherder's bread.
2) cut a slice in half
3) place in toaster and toast until golden brown
4) generously apply salted butter onto toast

now here's the magic...

5) sprinkle (white) sugar over the buttered toast.

6) ENJOY!!! Unless someone else takes it from you...

7) Now repeat steps 1-5 as many times as needed until all your kids and your own tummies are full!!!!

Hope you all like my early, before the sun-rises, breakfast before a great day of fishing in the Mammoth Lakes.

Actually, this makes a great dessert too!

Sounds good.

My mom used to do something similar with a slight sprinkle of cinnamon to top it off along with the salted butter and sugar. We just used regular toast though.
