We went aboard 'Sea Angler' out of 22nd landing.
After a 2lb sinker and 300feet of line and bunch of hooks, we mined boxes of sand dabs.
They just keep biting from the start till the very end nonstop.

Yah, I have to say the crews were the coolest guys I ever met on a party boat.
They were fun, attentive, and helpful all the time. Thank you. :D

Are they good to eat? Why do you catch so many of them, is it for bait?

ive never done one of those trips. I would prob give up after reeling in 2#s of weight from 300ft one time. At least you'll have pop tarts for a long time.

When are you going back out to get some more?

You know they're deep when you need a rail plate to reel up a couple fish that weigh less than 10 ounces each.

dabs are sure good to eat. Cover 'em in panco, deep fry 'em, then serve with rice and kimchi!

Hi atomiie,

Yabab dab bah doH !! You deserve every bite of dab you reeled up !! I noticed a setup with two weights ... one strung on the main-line via the eyelet of the weight. I'm wondering if that line was twisted big-time ..... unless there was a swivel up somewhere out of sight.

In the old days .... I used to tie two torpedo sinkers in tandem (in line) to avoid the 'propeller' syndrome !! Eye-screw, dikes, and a scrap hook for tapping a starter hole made my tandem weight rig for other type sinkers (i.e top sinker had two eyelets).

Anybody grab the biggest dab in the bunch and hang an outfit (trolling straps) over the side with about 10 cranks off the bottome on it !?!

There's more down there than Lings !! Besides ... they're out of season.

PS guys ..... no report this week from me !!

Propeller syndrome. Funny. I hate the line twists too.
I almost always use swivels, 'cuz I normally carolina rig to catch everything top to bottom.
I tied two sinkers because I'm cheap to buy 2lb sinker for a trip. Dabs don't care, the snags don't care. In the end they will end up at the bottom of the sea. ^^

What's the hottest catch in the sea right now?
