Decided to hop on the Clemente out of Dana Wharf Sportfishing for some 3/4 day action on the rockfish, and maybe some bass. We had about 7 reservations when we got down to the landing, and with three other half dayers (who didn't make it out), we were all set, and went out with 14 people. Along with some familiar faces, we had our old Saturday Dana Wharf Regular crew, which made it a really fun trip. Hit the bait barge for some decent sized sardines, and we were off to the races.

First stop on the list was for the rockfish. Our first spot produced some fat boscos for me, and a couple of barber poles. Moving on, we hit a couple of more spots further south, which produced more rockfish, but it was slow fishing for the most part. To wrap it up on the outside, we fished for some sculpin, which was instantaneous, but only a few legals. The rest was all sanddabs.

We then went inside to try and find some bass. We started out fishing the lobster pots to see if we could find a goat or two, and maybe some other good stuff. Those spots seemed desolate for the most part, except for the short halibut and a couple of short bass. Then, we went to try the kelp. It was not that good fishing to begin with, but it slowly picked up. The only thing was, that they were all short. But to catch them on plastics certainly made it worth while, and in the beginning of December! It certainly was a surprise for us. I had about 30 shorts and 1 legal. Very good bass fishing, I must say (at least for me).

To sum it up, the day was all right. I got some of the biggest boscos I've seen in a while. No jackpot today, though. Our friend, Lee was using his "magic" Lucanus Jig, and got a bigger bosco than me. But, as I said, what made it worth while was to come in to the kelp and catch the bass on plastics. That's hands down, my favorite type of fishing.

Here's the rest of the pictures from the trip. Good times, and good fishing!

getting the bass to hit the rubber is a blast! Even though they were small guys, it is better than nothing.
