Hi, there, new to the site, enjoyed reading your posts, thought I'd send mine from last Sunday.

Boarded the Enterprise Sun pm, geared with my trusty Gator, praying it'd hold up. It got me through (5) 20-25 lbs avg before the reel gave out. All in all, great trip, crew was cool and courteous, carted our catch to the parking lot.

Welcome to the boards! And way to go on the squid! All these squid posts are making me want to go so bad... in fact, I *may* go out this Saturday night, depending on if my friend is free. :D :D :D

Awesome job on the squidy~!

What kind of reel is it and when you say "gave out" what exactly happened? Did you break the gears inside? Or did you get tired of hauling in 25# Squid + 50# water + 30# of "trying to get away from you so I'm going to swim in the opposite direction as you're pulling" = limp arms.

Give us the details!!

Okay, here goes.

Reel was a loaner, definitely not a Shimano... hence the prayer.
Gave out as in the line did a bird's nest without my help (honest!) BUT the line never snapped (using 20# test), must have hooked with a monster 50# because that thing just dropped like a turd at the end of a chili contest. By the time my buddy got to the jig, all that was left of that sucker was a 12 inch diameter head and tentacles, nothing else.

As far as the action, yeah those guys swam the other direction, but as you can see on the pic, I'm not one to give up that easy, tenacity of a Gator! Arms fell off the next day, tho.

I was the only female on board. Not bad for a broad, ain't it??? 8)

"Wide F'in Open"

exactly...meaning the fishing is RED HOT, THEY ARE JUMPING IN THE BOAT, EATING EVERYTHING THAT HITS THE WATER, EATING THE PAINT OFF THE BOAT, EVERY CAST IS A FISH, etc......

Shock - Thanks, dude! I have to add that to my vocabulary now.. = )

GD - I figure it was something like that, but being new to the forum, wasn't sure what it literally stood for.... It's all good. And, hey, congrats, I saw your posts about Hailey. She is getting big! - AbG
