Well after one of these on Thursday VV

which quickly turned into a VV

We headed to the Rez on Friday to see how the action was for ourselves after hearing how good its been..

We got to a late start and got to our spot at around 11:30

We were fishing right next to chimney rock... Action was very consistent with every cast either producing a fish or a disappointing farm. All fish were average stocker 'bows.

Me attempting the in-water release.

Judging by the look on his face i say he didnt like this one lol

We tried to release all that we could but we know better than to release trout that swallowed the hook...

so these are the not so lucky ones

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f59/BishopTrouter/fish/Picture311.jpg
and this is what i turned them into... (they made amazing tacos!! )

In all it seemed the bait fishing dominated as we got hits on everything from inflated 'crawlers w/ the garlic oil, orange gulp eggs, chartreuse PB, and deadsticking orange PWs.

I chucked out a silver buoyant for a lil but only got a few hits so i got lazy and resorted to bait fishin it... i couldnt complain really, the weather was excellent and i got to relax a lil while in the process of slayin them.

Hopefully by my winter break they'll start throwing in the Alpers and the Brooders so we can get a little variety in size here.

Until next time, tight lines to all!

I heard the alpers truck will be there in Jan. I'll be there when it dumps the big ones in there.

I have lots of Garlics to use ... but don't know which ones are best. Which oil did you have luck with?

How far do you have to walk & hike? ... and I suppose you carry your waders to your spot?

THANKS

both Siberian garlic oil and the Powerbait 'dip' kind work fine for me... as far as the walk goes, i bike so i get their easily.. i would guess its about a mile from the upper parking lot to the spot where i fish? and i wear my waders while i bike so theres no carrying involved for me

Great after Thanksgiving Father/Son getaway fishing report and pics!!!!!!! Those days are at the top of my list. I bet it is cold up there now, my friend just told me that the winds in the town of Mammoth were 80 mph with gust on top of 130mph, I can't even calculate that wind chill factor. Thanks for the report.
