Thanks for the report and pics!

I grew up fishing King Harbor bonito. We used to use the same crappie jigs, called "tiny tots" on our trout rods and it was a blast! Also, loved to use the bobber and feather. It's great to see they are back and I hope this time they never go away.

Is the bubble hole still operating inside the harbor. We had some epic days of yellowtail and believe it or not, a few 12-20lb bluefin tuna around the hole back in the 60's?

Those must have been the days. Out of curiosity would have any old photo's to post. It's always cool to see how different all these places are now

I've been told the bubble hole still operates when the locals turn on their AC or heaters. But I have not seen it on in the past 10 years or so.

Nice! Those bonito can be fun. Funny that you have a pic of the New Sunbeam. Here's a pic of the New Sunbeam that I took in San Pedro. It's completely dwarfed by the container ship behind it.

I took my son out a few times during the summer and there were no bonito at all. Unusual that they would bite so late in the year. Must be El Nino or something. Thanks for the nice report.

I see people are using them for bait. Other than that though what good are they? I'm guessing just fun to catch and release for the fight?

I've heard you can bleed them out right away and they are edible but sounds like not many people care to eat them.

I searched pretty far back there for them on sunday...for no boneage ! (no pun)

I usually go completely to the yacht clubv but the extreme low tide was down so I only went 8/10ths of the way back.....I can tell you they werent around that day....

They need that warm water again....come on people...use some electricity....should happen soon ....need the water pumping from the edison plant..

The calico are thriving there though....I caught tons yesterday.....hard ta guess but probably well over 30 small ones plus some sandies.

Ventured a little out to the horshoe pier to troll but when my meager skiff rose to an unpresidented 6-8' up on a swell (maybe more), I though it wasn't worth a swim....

I HOPE THEY RETURN !!!!!! I love bonehead fishing....glad I at least got a few recently, I miss that action already !

Anyone who hears of the edison plant pumping water in PLEASE POST IT!!!!!!!

Good luck,
Gary
