I'm not familiar with an Avet 3/0. If you're talking about a 4/0, it wouldn't be my frist choice for a yellowtail yo-yo jig reel. Yellowtail like the jig moving fast, and the 4/0 might not be able to take up line fast enough for that. But since you have it already, no harm in trying it. It'll certainly handle any fish you hook.

Are you referring to the Avet 30 or the 4/0 2 speed reel? Either would definitely be able to handle 50-60# easily but I don't think they would be ideal reels for yoyo. Generally you want a fast retrieve. Couldn't hurt to bring it along since you already have the reel.

Where are you going to be fishing and when?

I thought this thread was about Kalidawg, sorry my bad! (j/k Kali....)

Good luck on your deep water fishing adventures and tackle selection.

4/0 can definitely handle the line class. Definitely no problems with dropper loop either. Bring it along.

Is the trip bottom bouncing for rock fish and lings or is it yoyo fishing for tails? If you are using it for rock fish, I would use a lesser lbs test leader as a break away. Yoyoing on 60lb for tails is a bit much in my opion, even if you are using a 7x or 6x hvys. Maybe a TNT at 300-400' on 60lb? 40 and 50lb would allow the jig to swim better, even at a yoyo presentation.
