Every had one of those days when you just don't feel like working "NOW," but maybe later? Well, I had one today. Called the boss, told him I'd show up to work late. Got the approval and headed to a local spot I'd been scoping for some time now.

Turns out it was a great decision! Showed up at 10:00 am to a semi-low tide and birds all over. All over, but just chilling in the water (no divers). Gave it a shot and it proved worthy.

(Discalimer: Forgot my digi cam and used my phone so beware of crummy pics)

I set up my drop shot rig with a 6lb. leader and load it with a #2 mosquito hook and bait up with a 2.5" berkley shad minnow. First cast and and I'm on. Out comes a short Yellow Fin Croaker. :D

Cast again, and I could have sworn I caught the same sucker I'd just released.

Every 2-3 casts I was on a YFC. It was wide open on YFC's so much that I stopped taking pictures to enjoy the action. After a while it got boring, as they were all small models. I moved a couple yards down and some potential structure. Worked the drop shot and after a few minutes I'm rewarded with my first drop shot Halibut! Unfortunately it was short.

I combed the area but no more butts to be seen. Try a few yards down and out comes a nice YFC. It fought with all its might. I really thought I had a larger model butt but it turns out this dude was just on steriods.

Try the same spot and out comes a decent sized BSP. (Holler!!!) Caught another 5 BSP's and a handful of YFC's in the same spot.

It's 11:45 am and I told my boss I'd be there at 12pm. Fcuk! I'd worked the drop shot all day long so I figured I'd toss old faithful before taking off.

Two casts and I get struck hard. Then some slack. Followed by another strike, and another. WTF?!! I worked it till I was on. A fighter indeed!! I'm thinking" "Is it my BUTT, sure fights like it...oh wait, don't go into the rocks...get over here...color...wtf?!!" Out come this dude...

Psyched, I snap a shot, release & cast in the same direction. Almost instant slam on the retrieve. Another twin, coming up!

Seeing as it's already 12pm, I'm officially LATE and my boss is short of calling me, I set aside my greed, thank the Surf Gods & head to work - with a huge smile on my face!

-Tight Lines!

Yes, they are! That one on the pic w/the rod put up a hell of a fight. I didn't stop to measure, as I was too busy catching & releasing but it certainly was a fatty.

Pacific Ocean. :ROFL::ROFL:
I'm kidding man, sorry but I just found this little honey hole. If it proves to be a stinker I'll share it later on. But it's between MDR and Zuma.
