Any one have an opinion on the two different rigs if your fishing bottom?

Seems the idea is the same, they both get to the bottom, one with one knot and the other with two knots.

Dropper loop is very quick & easy to tie.
Also versatile, in that you can do quick Dropper loop (hook high) or reverse dropper loop (hook at bottom)??????
Or several hooks at either location....
(Dropper loop & reverse dropper loop confuse me in which is which, so sorry if I got them backwards???)....

Plus you can attach heavy weights (10/12+ oz) to get down 300+ ft, in a strong current.

The slider weights are hard to find over 2/3 oz or so???
If you are talking using a swivel as a stop? That takes 3 knots, and also takes a lot more time...
I have used sliders up to 1 oz (right at hook knot) for shallow bottom bait & drifting bait to get it down deeper, but not with swivel, and not at all for deep bottom fishing..

Most dropper loop type fishing will be for rock/bottom Fish at 150/300 ft or more.
Lot of structure down there at times, you will lose set ups...
99% of the fish will be under 3# or 4 # (taco meat). So strength of knot on the heavy line, is not an issue as much as quick, easy, re-ties and multiple hooks.
Minimum line would be 20/25# or higher, or braid with heavy top shot.

Once you get the Dropper loop knot down good, it is fast & very easy...
You know you are good, when you can slide the hook on, make the loop, spin it and pull the hook through on the loop, done!!.. Bait & drop....

Dropper Loop is one of the key set ups for local fishing. Good for yellowtail, rock fish, even some of the butts. Learning how to tie on is essential and it allows for a quick change weight. You can quickly go bigger or smaller in weight which is always nice till you figure out which is right for the conditions.

What is your intended quarry?

How deep are you planning to fish?

Will you be fishing live bait, dead, or artificials?

Will you be fishing over structure, or a flat sand/mud bottom?

Will you be drifting or at anchor?

And finally, is there any room on the boat for me?

drop loop is best for the deep water and early morning for WSB, YT
sliding sinker is best for live bate or fresh dead
thats what i think. drop loop is to hold your bait in place and sliding sinker it to let it explore with the current. and revise drop loop it the same but limited to how far it can explore

A dropper loop system is best used when your drift fishing. It allows your bait to just stay slightly off the bottom and keeps your bait moving along with the drift. If the boat is anchored up and is set up shallow with slight current, then I would suggest the slider rig. What ever the case, the cappy or deckies will offer advise.

i like the dropper loop. like bling said, its easy to change weight sizes, or hooks fast and easy
