you can never go wrong with buggers..matukas are good also. punk perch.

but midging is also a killer at crowley. or stripping/trolling anything that has some shine to it.

as for twins, im not too sure.

Fixed:Wink:

I can only tie buggers so thats all I fish. Try black or olive in #8 or #10 and go very S L O W right now with full sink line.

what flying said..black and olive tend to be my favorites. also brown and purple but my go to color is black.

the only thing, id suggest a tappered sink line rather than a full sink line. its a lot easier to cast (for me) and a lot easier to set the hook.

Loeburg by Tom Loe with Sierra Drifters. Works great at Crowley and also we've had real good luck at Big Bear with it.

The Loebergs are good producers. The occasional perch fry are still around, so the Loeberg can be a good choice. I like black/ red leeches this time of year, either with or without a conehead or beadhead depending on the conditions. A Punk Perch style of fly can be a real producer also.
Full sink, at least Type 3. A 4 or 5 is usually my choice this time of year. You cant get deep enough frm the bank with a sink tip. The water off Crowley is deep right off the bank, and with no boats, a sink tip will be of limited use.
At Twins, you can probably get away with a sink tip right now.
