Well I did it, I bought a used kayak. Now all I gotta do is rig her up for fishing. My girlfriend is gonna have a fit when she sees how much of the living room it takes up....we got no garage.

It's a scrambler...not the best platform for fishing but the price was good and I bought it off a friend. I know i will have fun with it.

I'm thinking about putting eyes on the bow with colored reflective tape...

Anybody have any tips on rigging the basic Scrambler for fishing?
Oh man, I can't wait to take it out.

Congrats on the new toy, if your girlfriend is worth keeping she'll understand. If not, show her the door

not the best platform for fishing but the price was good and I bought it off a friendWhat! You could use that kayak for some serious ocean exploration and fish catchin' dude! It'll cover lots of water at lakes too. I'm sure you'll slay on that puppy. Have fun on it!

I have toyed with the kayak idea for bays/beaches but I just don't have anywhere to put one with the pontoon already taking up the living room

Congrats on the new ride

BTW you could always suspend it from the ceiling or mount it on the wall if space becomes an issue.

Just to get you started get a milk crate and some pvc pipe cut the pvc and strap four in each corner of the crate to make rod holders and tackle storage and strap it behind your seat.I would also get a couple plastic flush mounted rod holders to put on the side of it pointing away from you.If you want to pick up live bait and since you dont have a bait tank system you should get the little yellow bait holders they have holes on the top so you leave it in water and when you move you put it in your yak.Nice yak have fun out here and be safe.

The yellow plano tanks are really hard to paddle with.
Do the hawaiian bait tube method
Much Better (IMHO)

thanks for the info and the links guys....yeah I've been reading a bunch of different websites about outfitting a kayak for fishing. I can see that I'm gonna have some projects to do. I don't mind though. That's half the fun!

When i use the Plano tank i put it on my lap when paddling for me its not hard at all when i do a drift i drop it back in.The bait tube is good when making bigger bait like smelt and mini macks or getting horse sardines.

Go to www.kayakfishinggear.com. They have pictures of rigged kayaks including mine! Go to OK Kayaks and see the Yellow Prowler with the white bait tank and Shimano Trinidads. That one is mine. If you want rigging tips including Fish Finders/GPS, Bait Tanks, Bow Lines, Anchors, etc.. shoot me a PM.

There is also a cool store in Sunset Beach OEX or something like that and they have some stuff but I tell you "kayakfishinggear" has way more just not kayaks! They are in Dana point area and will mail orders too.
