I think it's best at calm beach's, no lights, and not a lot of peeeple

I can't speak for all of SoCal, however in my neck of the woods, due to the seawall and the southern facing beaches the only good areas are Seal Beach and Cabrillo Beach. Usually 1 night during each of the grunion runs Cabrillo Aquarium has an event in which they open the aquarium at night, show a documentary, hatch your own grunion, and then they take you down to the beach. Its kinda kewl even if it was meant for little kids.

I've got the "too buzzed to drive and no one else is sober enough to" bug.

Good luck everyone!

Yeah....I'm too lazy to head out during the Vampire hours but The after effects of the runs should be good for the predetors that have moved in to feed on the carnage. I'm heading up to Channel Islands harbor today and I'm hoping the runs came ashore up there also. There is pleanty of places for the grunion to get trapped in the harbor.
