Yeah dude! That's sweeeeet! :Big Smile:
That thing must have taken you for a ride! What do you think it went? Looks pretty hefty to me..
Did he chomp your thumb?

P.S..
got some new waders! I'll have to try tubin' with the fly rod soon, although I worry I may pop my tube!

I guess I didn't study ALL of the pics....
Well, I mostly use that lake to drive thru to get to MV......

I've only fished it a handful of times.

The first 5 minutes was kinda busy. I use 6 lb tippet and rarely have to use the reel to bring fish in but this guy just did what he wanted. He did a few good runs at first then settled down. After that he just cruised around and I just followed. I had him close enough to see leader but he never broke the surface. I got a glimpse of the tail once but was never really sure of what I had.

I'm a bad estimator of weight. I was shaking too much to even get a measure on the length.

I wish he would have chomped on my thumb. It would have helped me hang on for more pics:LOL:

Flying...How upset were you when you realized you had a nice Channel Catfish instead of a big bass? I'm sure you figured it out fairly quick when it didn't come up and jump like bass always seem to do. Catfish are cool though, especially when you can get them on a fly! Hey way to go on getting that hook out without tearing up his gills. That was interesting what you did, plus you probably saved that kitty's life....no bleeding. Nice!

I must admit I was a little bummed when I figured out I didn't have a bass but that didn't stop the rush I was getting. I still didn't know what it was and started thinking Carp. Then I started spooking myself out by thinking alligator:LOL: like that Camen they caught out of Irvine a few years back. I was only in 6 feet of water so whatever was down there was always close.

I was more bummed when I dropped it before getting more pictures and measurements.

I grind my barbs down so the hook just falls out almost on its own. It makes release so much easier even compared to a pinched barb. It also adds to the RUSH big time.
