Red Drum

I went on a week long and highly anticipated fishing trip with my fishing buddy Mike “bajamike” down 400 miles south of Tijuana MX, to a little town called Santa Rosalillita. Mike towed my 15ft aluminum Duroboat the “Red Drum” and I towed my Starcraft 3212 Pop-up tent trailer.
Here is Mike towing the “Red Drum”. http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h177/Big_Drum/10192008santarosalillita036.jpg
Here are the rigs a little north of San Quintin.

They are finally widening the road between El Rosario and Catavina. Nice!

However, most of the trip down south of Ensenada is still on the narrower roads.

It took us a little under 9 hours to get down to the camp site. Sweet! http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h177/Big_Drum/10192008santarosalillita025.jpg

The 15-25 knot east winds were unrelenting the first 2 days but we did get at least 4 days of beautiful seas conditions.
We caught a gazillion 3-6 pound Bonita, all the Calico and Sand Bass you’d want and an occasional Yellowtail…if you were able to get your bait down past the Bonito.
Here I am with a Whitefish.

Mike and some of the typical size Calico Bass.

Also, a bunch of Sandies.

Typical early morning kill.

Also had steamed mussel that we yanked off these rocks during low tide. They were very good.

Plus we made some fried clams with some of the many Pismos.

I took this picture of a lady during laundry by hand in the town. I had to show my wife the pic to let her know that she shouldn’t complain about doing the laundry when she has the luxury of having washer and dryer.

Here is a pic of the harbor that needs a serious dredging.

We had a blast fishing and camping and can’t wait to do it again.

This was the worst part of the trip. A 2 hour and 45 minute wait at the border, trying to get back in the good ole USA.

HOOK-UP!
