Got down to the landing at 4:40. Some folks were there early, but we were soon joined by all the Bad Boys Fishing Crew guys: Steve (Ghetto Dad), Greg (Gmoney), Jason (Osiito), Jason (Jaylpz), Victor (Victor101), Juan (Cappo), Mike (Hakavelli), Tim (Fishindude420), Gambino (Bassin Chef), Alan (One Leg), Art (Noho Art), Kap (Hawkeye), and Coach (DeanHall32). Also joining us was Ray (Ricky-Ray).

We loaded the boat and headed off to the receivers, and left the harbor in pitch black fog. We started trolling right away for the bonito, and not long after, we got a hookup! Unfortunately, the guy who was trolling was a little bit of an idiot, trolling 200 feet back, so the school never came. This occured once more, but we did have a spot for 2 or 3 bait and iron fish. JayLo farmed a bonito, but you'll see that he redeemed himself.

We continued to troll up the line, when on the way, we spotted a huge mako feeding on a dead sea lion chunk. This thing was humungous! However, several attempts to bait it failed, and it sank out. Sorry, no pictures of that.

We trolled up to the Malibu Pier, and finally stopped and dropped anchor. My choice was the double shrimp fly rig with Gulp, and it paid off - I got 3 fish in 5 minutes. Others continued to catch fish, but the bite quickly shut off. We tried several spots around the area, but nothing wanted to chew. So, we headed back south, stopping at one area that didn't produce that much.

We went futher south, when we stopped at an area that produced quite a bit. Guys fishing the leadhead with squid got themselves big fish, including JayLo, who redeemed himself by catching the jackpot winning triggerfish. This spot also produced some quality grumpies. With time running out, Captain Steven wanted all the guys to have their sacks filled, so we headed down to the sculpin grounds.

Arrived just as the Redondo Special was leaving, and the fishing started out slow. Steven had to reset, and he got down to put some fish on the boat. I finally got a good spot, and filled my quota for sculpin. After a while, we finally headed home.

Minor note: Ray's pork chops are good!

Besides the food, fishing was so-so today, but we all still had a great time. Here are some pictures, and pictures are to follow.

Looks like you guys had a good time out there, great report and pics JPJ! Sounds like fishing was a little tough all over, we fished offshore and the temp had dropped 4 degrees :Shocked: Maybe the Bay had somewhat similar conditions? Hope to jump on the Spit with you guys next time out.

Cool looking JP fish! I read somewhere those trigger fish will dull your knife if you try to fillet them!

Great seeing the crew fishin again. Had a good time even though fishin was tough. That mako was freakin awesome. Too bad we all missed the great photo op. Glad I was able to get my limit of tasty sculpins at least.

Always a good time fishing with the boys. I hadn't fished w/ Dean since last winter.

The trigger fishs' skin is tough, it will dull your knife. Morgan had a hard time filleting it because its that tough. Not much meat on the trigger. I think the skin is tough enough to make some boots or wallet (no joke)

When the next meet up?

Jimmy, that was an awesome account of a really fun trip. Thanks for posting it up!!!

The Mako chowing down on the sea lion carcass was an incredible sight. Totally :Cool:

We were in the right place, but it must have been the wrong time.

Congrats to Jason on the JP trigger.

BTW, I caught a fish.

Thanks again for coordinating another great day on the water!! slow fishing is no match for having a boat load of good peeps hangin out and goofing off! I had a blast.

my two high points of the day:

watching that mako was epic!! i have never seen anything even remotely close to what we witnessed. beyond cool :Cool::Cool:
alan falling asleep on the way home. ssshhhh sooo quiet :LOL: (although yelling at him just to wake him up was really fun)

major props to derek and morgan for working their butts off and for keeping the scene fun!!

good to see all the BBFC rolling strong - see y'all on the next one!!!

man i had a very good time on this trip ... although fishing was not so grate
(i got skunked) but meeting the bad boy's crew and some other cool people and seeing the mako having breakfast maid it all worth it!

It was GREAT finally getting the boyz back together for a great trip on the Spitfire.....as usaul, they worked their butts off and we had a GREAT time, regardless of the slow fishing. It was also great meeting new faces, and I look forward to another trip on the water......

It was a Pleasure fishing with BBFC boys that was a lot fun especially when I got that bone head on the my new SX, Graphtech combo with the jig, and yea that Mako was one of the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. Big thanks to Steve (G D) for putting this trip together and Ray (RR) for bringing along the pork chop that was good Stuff, Oh yea Jason (Jaylpz) you owe me a rematch for that JP.

Fun trip guys. It was cool finally meeting so many of you guys. We should do it again whenever my wife lets me get out again............. Thanks for plannin the trip steve. Ricky those were some mean chops aswell. I will never drink like an alchy the night before I jump on a boat ever again. Good lesson learned. Im sure GMONEY knows what im talkin bout.. LOL...

it was a pleasure to fish with all the homies again. fishing was tuff but owell thats fishing. highlight for me again besides being with the homies was the pork chops...mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Everyone was so excited at the sight of a shark, just like they have seen on shark week a million times, that they all just stood there in amazement. I left my videocam at home, for obvious reasons, so I couldn't have gotten any footage if I had wanted to.

Very well written report Jimmy! BEST BBFC trip ive been on so far! Fishing was slow...but being around good peeps makes any trip fun. It was good fishing with All of you again and look forward to another trip soon.
