Well it looks like the wife and I will be spending the new year at Tahoe with some friends and since I've never been there I was wondering if fishing will even be a possibility..... or will I need to break through the ice to even see any water up there?

I have driven by the lake during winter several years ago. Its a pretty lake but I do NOT know if it will be iced over and/or how much will be covered at that time. It may vary year to year.

Good luck and tight lines!

Hopefully someone in the area can post more info here!

I'm pretty sure tahoe doesn't freeze over...but the shoreline will be a mess with snow and ice

Snow will definitely dictate your options, if you are in a position to hire a guide try going mackinaw fishing for the day! Tahoe is a great place to spend the New Year, have fun.
