I like how they didn't have a rail around that boat. Could you imagine???

I remember that barge! I caught my first legal halibut there about 15-16 years ago, along with the countless mackeral, smelt, queenfish, and croakers. Man, those were the days.

I loved fishing from the seal beach barge. We used to catch lots of big fish there in the 70's.

Ah yeah! good ol knuckle buster and check the guy stern holding what appears to be a BFT. Imagine fighting a tuna a knuckle buster..

Hey Steve (Ghetto Dad) do ever remember seeing old timers way back in the day bouncing feathers on the long sticks (10' + old siloflex or bamboo rods). They used to just absolutely kill the bonita and baracuda on feathers. I heard that it was really popular back during the times when the picture was taken but yet I never see anybody using these days. I've seen the old surface jigs they used to use back in the day. They were made out of whale bone. Bob Tanji has one and he brought out one day and threw a few times at the dock just to see how it kicked. It swam great. Who needs aluminum...Anyways cool picture.

Hey Jerry,

Yeah brother, they are still in use in you can find the heads (hex). I still fish them. We used to have regulars that would ABSOLUTELY destroy the fish on those feathers!!! I had a couple of those bone jigs man....i have no clue where i lost them. My buddy Uncle Chuck gave me an old Putter for 1959....im looking at it right now....single hook heavy for yo yo fishing....

Anyway, i hope all is well for you brother...everytime you post on here, and i mean EVERYTIME, it reminds me of the "good old days", lol....i miss those days.....peace

Ahhh, the good old days!!!!

Used to take my kids to Rendondo Barg regular in the 70's. Had a lot of fun..
Even got them spooled and broke off by unk stuff a time or two..
We called them the Submarines, cuz they felt like it..
My son is 40 and daughter 38 now, they still talk about it....
But man what they say sure doesnt remind me of it?? Fish stories?? LMAO

All I did was bait and untangle and check out the few ladies that would be there..
So its just a blur to me now, Dont remember what we caught, but we always gave it away to others if we did.
