We have a 14 ft aluminum boat, so our options were limited. We decide to launch out of LB and hoop the breakwall. This way we can fish the wall while our nets soak. Long story short, it was a great learning experience.

Caught this little thing on our first pull.

Then FB caught this strange looking fish. Does anyone know what type of fish this is?

I had a blast hooping last night, even though we got the the big skunkO on the lobster. Some of you guys make it look too easy, but it really isn't. We're new to this, so any advice would be much appreciated. I have several question for the experts. For example, how deep do you guys fish. Do they crawl better during the full moon? Do I fish along the kelp line or do I look for where there is structure on the fish finder before I place my nets out? Once again thanks in advance for all your help. Thanks for reading and goodluck on you next fishing adventure, Pokerface.

nice report. I remember the days hoopin in a little aluminium it was so fun.
I believe the fish in the picture is a rubber lip perch, but I'm not sure. Set your nets next to structure on the bottom fish 20 to 40 feet.
