Tsurikichi, thanks for the pics/report.

I have always had a great time when fishing with chuck'n duece's @ LBSF.

He is a great skipper.

Hi Ghetto dad,

Had Jason as a deckhand and the K of C club really thought a lot of him. Sure he pays the same strict attention to detail being skipper as he did then !! A fine skipper and boat in the LBSF fleet !!

Hi Ricky-ray,

Yes, having the braid and knowing that I would be able to feel the slightest hit ... then not getting even a touch most of the trip whle others hooked up .... just made my frustration worse.

Thanks,

Hi deanhall32,

Thanks. Appreciate your formitable contributions too !! Dang it was hot out there. On top of that I was casting continuously the whole time we were there. That's from 10am to 3pm that's 5 hours. Hour or so travel time max. 4 hours at 100 casts an hour make for 400 casts ... at least. Yes plastics only !!

great report and information. I learned that a swimbait doesn't last long in the mouth of a 5 pound bonito

Hi chris,

Actually ..... When fishing for Barracuda and Bonito I do a lot of faster retrieves and that coupled with the braid (almost instant feel on a strike) sensitivity, I honestly don't get chewed up that much !! Surprised me too but that's my experience.

To make sure the plastic gets through the water quickly, for the above fishys, I fish 4 or 4 1/2 inch baits only and those having either a ribbon tail like a blam or a small tail like a Kalin as opposed to the big tailed FT's or BH's that are slower moving !! I'm cheap !!

Hi CalamARI,

Man or man !! The one with the rollerguides next to it was my buddies daughters. She told him to go ahead and use it today as she couldn't go !! Busted on a trollled fish !!

The other one was a custom rod .... one of a set of five exactly wrapped alike owned by da da da daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Jason the skipper of the Native Sun !! Carl the deck hooked a yellow and was trying to get it out of the kelp !! Yikes !!

Thanks,

JapanRon

Oh man...........I am sorry to hear that.....lol

Hey Ron, so you remember telling me that my SuperSeeker didn't belong on a local moo moo?
I found it with one of the guides busted on the last trip.
And then I broke another one when it hit the deck while baiting up another rod.
It is being rewrapped at Taka's tackle in Anaheim at the present time.

Oh well, you were right Ron.
I gotta be more careful.

Hi agian one_leg,

Yes .... I hate to see a spic and span, high-end rod be at the mercy of those who don't appreciate or care about a stick and perpetrate the following.

1) Allow their Big whatever 29.95 spinners with the 8oz tropedo to slide down and off the rail, knocking other peoples' rods in domino fashion. (I use a rail rod-holder but I still get banged by these rail-rod-holder idiots)

2) Put their rigged rods in the rack next to yours with the weights, jigs, hooks ... whatever swinging around banging the finish of others rods.

3) Lean their garbage up against yours as kind of a rod rack ... scratching your blank with thier guides, lures, weights .... whatever.

4) Don't watch what's behnd them and cast or bang against stuff in the racks.

5) Sword-fights you might get into when going down the rail.

Last but not least ...

6) Guys that cast, never look back, never say jack but when questioned will swear they are following the rules of calling out before a cast !!

Sound familiar ......? ha ha ha

All we can do is protect ourselves by isolating our stuff !!

I'm cheap .... I repair all my own stuff !!

Sorry to hear about that rod.

WOW!! not only another great report but we got a lot of special extras in this one.
I loved reading about Tsurikichi Sanpei....very interesting.
I also loved the hook removal part...my last trip required that i play Dr for a nice young (tough) girl that buried the treble in her finger. she was a trooper and all turned out ok (glad it wasnt me).
i love fishing with Jason Rico....one of my faves!!

oh...and i guess the report info about the fishing was cool too - lol

Take care my friend and i hope to wet the lines with ya sooner than later.. Thanks again for the great posts.....always informative AND interesting!!!

see ya

Hi supasportkid,

Thank you. Of course it will be realeased in Japan first but already there is some interest in getting an english version. A few years back, one of the big U.S. studios proposed a film but the deal fell through from the Japan side. Should be less than a year to get it American englished !!

I kinda wanted to get out to CAT again but .... the weather ...... dang !!

Hi Gmoney,

Thank you. Yes it's been a while. I think you would have been at the bow with other hot sticks if you had been on that trip !! Would've expected ya to at least hook up !!

Intersting info ...... the trips I go on are sooooo mundane .... compared to all the cool tuna trips and adventures down in Mexico, or the giant Rockfish at the Channel Islands .... I have to provide some incentive to some to read my stuff !! ha ha ha

Besides ...... reports, in my opinion, should be a basis on which fellow anglers can pick up on and put in their two-cents for the benefit of all. I don't much see the concept of hijacking a thread as ......... if the thread is good enough to stand on its own ... it should be able to maintain the course with a few side-trips !! Different of course if the postings go down-hill into fights !! :)

See ya on the boats,

JapanRon
