Hi Everyone,

Anyone have a tip on how to store a sabiki after you use? I know that they are only a couple bucks each but I cannot afford expendable sabikis. Any help would be appreciated.

You could buy one of those sabiki rods (http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0043768122113a.shtml). They are similar to a regular rod but the rod is actually a hollow tube that the sabiki rig winds up into. Aside from that, what I do is keep the whole rig assembled and put it in my car and try to avoid getting bit by the hooks while en route.

Keep the packaging and put it back in when done.

If not, I would probably store it in a zip lock bag.

I buy one of those "water-noodles" that are made of foam. I cut off about a 6" piece of the foam, and wind the sabiki onto it, putting the hooks into the foam, and cutting a couple of little slits to slide the top and bottom swivels into. Throw it in your tackle box for next time.
I had one sabiki last me nearly all summer long by using this method of storage
Hope this helps.

Is there no end to the use of the water noodle?

The "tackle buddy". You can get them at Sportmart or Basspro.

I just use old Cork. It works great!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the tips and ideas. I looked up water noodle as I did not know what one was. Spent half my life swimming competitively in pools, go figure. The water noodle looks cheap and easy to use. One question, anyone know where I can get a small version of this?

Try Home Depot. Ask them for foam insulation for pipes. Pretty much the same stuff. It could come in different sizes.

I use the Cheater Leader Pad I won as part of the prize package when I took first place
in The FNN/Team57 Pay Lakes Extravaganza at Irvine Lake in 2006.

Did I mention that I took 1st place?

They work great for wind chimes in the backyard when not in use... you can attach bells to the hooks or bread if you want to catch birds.... LOL But then again don't listen to me some of us are insane on here... and joking

Wrap the sabiki around a piece of cardboard then stick in a ziplock bag.

Cut slits in opposite sides of a piece of cardboard and wrap it around. Easy, cheap, and works very well.

Wrap the sabiki around a piece of cardboard then stick in a ziplock bag.

Exactly.
Cut the cardboard so your hook can go in to the
oval holes.
Wash off line with freshwater
and use the same precautions you use
with yer mainline:
away from heat and light.
