Since she is shutting down for a while, how about people posting thier biggest toads they caught (via boat) the last 5 years at DV. I'll start it off with a couple of PB's during a family outing: Keep it going, I know there is some big LMB/Stripers/Bows pictures out there...

Here is my personal best, 5.4 lbs. from DVL

And my husband's close runner up that he guesstimated weighed about 4 lbs.

Now where do we go since our favorite lake is closing? Looks like possibly good old Lake Perris.

Wife with a 6 lb 11 oz trout caught within the first year before the internet reports eliminated most of the true hold overs with any size.

Hey steve m the holdovers got gone by the people killing the stocker trout at the marina and ajoining areas they dont get the trout breeding program is the stock truck, but the stripers and bass helped massacre them also,,,

Understood. My point was that we got some good ones while the getting was still good. I had hoped that the true holdovers would remain accessible to just the boaters and thus the impact would be lessened. I really hoped that we'd get to the point where 10+ lb fish were caught on a regular basis out of DVL, but that does not look like it will happen. The combination of too much take on the existing holdovers, and as you noted, punishing take from the shore anglers on the new plants and predation by the striper population.

I only fished DVL on the troll a couple times. First year to get me a 5.0 lb PB which I needed to complete a fishing contest with a treasure hunt type format (won $5k worth of tackle, plus a trip to the East Cape). Then later in the summer with the wife, simply as a get away and to show her the fishery, resulting in the fish caught in the photo. Otherwise, I only pursue trout on the troll when nothing else is going on or I'm up at our place in Big Bear. It's not the most technically difficult form of fishing if you know what I mean.

As for bass, I found DVL to hold a good population of decent sized bass, but not a lot of fish over 10 lbs. You'll find a lot of 8s in DVL, but not a lot of fish over 10. I was after the latter and found Perris to offer much better opportunity on the bigger fish.
