Short Version: 1 hour and 45 minutes on 40lb, Trinidad 40 Narrow, with GUSA 65xh. Went to Cabo San Lucas. Captain estimated at 140 pounds. give or take. Got owned. my friend Svue took over as my back was done and the fish was gaining more and more line after the 1 hour and 15 min mark. I let my friend borrow my new smittys belt and i used the captains belt which hurt my left testicle. My friend Chris got an 80lb also on the same boat with me, while my buddy O, Jerry, and Dave were fighting their 5th 60-80 pound class fish. They have not given me their pics yet but here are mine. Lots of fish in the 10-20 pound range..wfo. Dorado fishing was excellent also. Everyone in our group of 16 got their fill of fish. Must be my lucky year.

Damn. Glad to see that your trip went well. Congrat on the big TUNA. Especially on a single speed reel.

That right there is why I prefer private boat fishing.

























Even though I only have a very limited amount of private boating under my belt, I would rather go on a private boat any day of the week.

Hi Normalfellow,

Great catch on 40lb test line !! IGFA records show that catches of Tuna weighing over 10 times the line class is common. Congrats .... sashimi ... sashimi ... sashimi !! Glad I wasn't killed by pulling on that fish !!

Again ..... WTG !!

Holy cow! Thats a beast on 40# line! Congrats on that find catch!!! I was in Cabo in June and the water wasnt warmed up enough yet to get the good fish! I want to go to Cabo right now after seeing your post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

Yes i bring down all my own gear.

Didn't you post a report where you jumped in the water for your rod during an offshore bite? Is so, this report doesn't surprise. I've never met you, but you seem to be a die hard who knows what he is doing. Congrats on a trip you will remember for the rest of your life.
