Long story short, wanted to get Mr. Chin on something that pulls hard and we did. Fished NPH for about an hour and moved to the squid grounds with Billy and Pickleboy. Nailed about 400 pounds of squid in 40 minutes between the 4 of us and went home. Boat was so bow heavy that we were having trouble keeping dry on the way home. Took about and hour and half to clean everything...

Thanks BIlly for getting my lazy arse out and gnfshn for the numbers, even though we didn't use them this time.

Looks like you guys had a great fishing trip. One question for you:
Are the squid alive by the time you bring them on board? Is it possible to catch and release them?

I'd love to go and catch a few, but don' t like the idea of killin something that I probably won't eat. Sure, I'll fry some up, but not 20 lbs worth.

cheers

Way to put Mr. Chin on the big 'uns. :thumb: That's alot of squirters. You guys must really love the calimari.

What kind of boat is that? It looks like a great setup.

Have fun up north, Mr. Chin - good luck!

When the squid get that huge is the flesh as good as smaller squid you buy in the market. Or is it better?

The meat are 100 times better. Cook it rare with scampy sauce, rice and beans and you have a meal you will love!

isn't it generally true that the bigger the meatier? Basically tougher? I haven't cooked mine yet so don't know.

I think I saw you guys out there. I was on the Nautilus.

Mr. Lee, you've caught more fish in a few weeks than I have my entire life.

Mr. Lee, you've caught more fish in a few weeks than I have my entire life.If you were on the Nautilus then you saw us for sure. No not true at all. If cooked right as with anything else they come out excellent. Italian restaurants use Calimari steaks this size all the time as well as Puerto Nuevo.

I tried what the captain said and deep fried it after a soak in milk. Not good. The milk gave a sour taste. But it was tender
