It looks like we will try the Delta. Where should we launch? How and where should we fish.

An experienced fisherman who is local would be welcome to fish with us next Sunday morning. PM me if interested.

Original post below:
"I'm going from SoCal with a friend to pick up a boat in Oregon. We are planning to stop and fish San Luis Reservoir or O-Neil Forebay for some Striper on the way back.

Can anyone recommend techniques and or locations for trolling and or bait?

Would we be better off to go to the Delta? If so, we could use the same information for it."

Google the fishsniffer.com, lots of info on NoCal.

I wouldn't do the San Luis Res/O'neil Forebay for 2 reasons...

1. The wind can pick up there this time of year and make the lake completely unfishable.

2. When your other alternative is the Delta, I'd take the Delta
for 2 reasons...
2a. Big healthy largemouth
2b. Big healthy stripers
2c. Large fishery

As far as spots ON the Delta, that's something others may chime in on.

Everytime I pass through the Forebay and the Resevoir on our way to Santa Cruz it's always windy! I always wanted to fish them both but never brought gear on our trips up there.

Thank you, those are some good ideas, but big healthy largemouth taste bad.:Big Grin:

I've only ever fished O-Neil Forebay from shore. We got zip.
