Launched out of MDR.
Used live sardines for bait.
Drifted in 45-55' of water.
That's about all I really care to elaborate. :Secret:

I like big butts and I can not lie
You other brothers can't deny
That when a guy post up with an itty bitty rod
And a round fish in your face
You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough
'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed
Deep in the sea he's fishing
I'm hooked and I can't stop wishing
Oh baby, I wanna fish with you
And take your picture
My homeboys tried to warn me
But that butt you got makes me so horny
lol awesome butt dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey CrabMan, The bait was live 5-6" sardines, water temp was 67 deg.
The set-up for this day was a sliding rig made with barrel swivels and a short section of line to hang the weight from and a trap hook set-up consisting of a #2/0 octopus type hook and a #4 bronze treble hook.
15-20lb. test p-line
You snell the octopus hook on and tie the treble to the tag end. I like using a palomar knot on the treble because it's easier to determine where the hook is going to end up at.
Here's the set-up

And here's the snelling tool that makes it easier

With this set-up, you can just about fish it in gear as opposed to "letting them eat it"
This day I was up to 6ozs. of lead due to the wind.
I hope this is explained clearly,
Scott

Thanks JR, On a private boat, it's a team effort. So, I would say that we were lucky :Thumbs Up:
Hey one_leg, Giving away all the secrets again? Go with a #8 bait holder and you should be good to go!
Super nice Halibut you got there. Congrats . You eat it?
Yes, It tastes very good
Beautiful!!! Congrats on the big Butt. :Big Grin:
Thanks Arthur and good luck in getting one over 40" I know that you've been slamming them pretty good, but I would be using more that 10lb test trying to drag one through the surf :Bug Eyes:
Dude! nice collection of fish there, did the huge Butt and the sea bass give you a work out?
Holding it up for the pictures and filleting it was a tougher workout than fighting it :Envious:
