"Mean Girls" in NPH 9-12-08

After two weeks of not fishing I decided to get up early and hit NPH in the Portabote. Technically, I could have waited until the afternoon. I was skunked for my first 5 hours out there. Granted, I have left the entire day skunked more times than not in different venues. However, NPH is usually good to me. At some point during the 5 hour wait I had to express my feelings about these "Mean Girls" and my experience with them. So I wrote a little diddy..not much, but I thought I'd share what I do while waiting for a bite.

Anyway, I'm not that agitated about the wait because all of the conditions were different in the Bay than they have been the past few months (no reports from these trips because no Interent at home). There was more grass and junk on the bottom than usual so i tried a bunch of different set ups and actually fished really hard. I kep thinking of Sinjin's post when he said the Halibut made him work hard for it. Well these Frecked Mean Girls made me work much harder than I'm used to, but it was worh the wait. All fish caught on dropshot plactics (Kalins, AA, Gulp) also caught some Mike Gardner style.

Those bright orange caps you guys are sporting are definately a great way to stay visible in the bay...nice touch!

Nice job catching my favorite little feisty mean girls. They are my target every trip due to the battle they put up when enticed into a fake meal on the plastics.

You are not far from a couple of my favorite spots to get some of those Toad Spotties. One is up river and one is down river.
