so a friend of mine (mr.C) and i decided to hit up blacks beach for some surf action to see whats going on over there, he hadnt fished since the 6th grade at lake shasta i think, so i packed light, only bringing perch crack, an l.c. and crok. weather was overcast, water in the low 70's, visibility- super clear in some spots, merked out and salad in others. made the hike down, down, down.....

got set up and started tossing.

first fish on were dink perch, still fun and mr.c was stoked when he caught his first ocean fish in a long time.

then mr.C is all bent and reels in something different than a perch, as i get closer i see he landed a little bean'. were both all stoked on the beach, passerbyers are stoked to hootin & holarn'

the baby perch were plauging me, i tossed the l.c. for nothing. would go back to baby perch, back to l.c. etc.....

as im fishing a see a fly fisherman walking by, we say hi' and talk about our happenings, he claims to have not caught anything nore seen anything, as im telling him about mr.C's fish, mr.C walks up with one of the biggest bsp ive seen in s.d. waters.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/20080901_07.jpg

so mr.C killed it this morning, we saw all kinds of flat sharks, leopards and rays, no hali's. heres one of my best for this outing.

had a good a.m. sesh, the beach has fish, i need to hit it some more to get a better feel for the area. keep you posted

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/20080901_09.jpg

so then we part ways, i decide i still have the urge to fish so head on down to a place closer my way, and hit up some rocks. the tide was coming in and the sun was on the downslope, start dropshotting gulp shrimp and had a good hour of fishing

kept doing what i was doing and got a nice hit, hook set instant and faught this beauty for a little while, my biggest corvina yet.

i was stoked, decided to check this one spot my tata told me that might hold halibut, so i walk over there survey, and no joke first cast i get hung up, or so i thought, as i drag in this snag it suddenly comes to life jumping and thrashing, and i land a nice under legal halibut.

"its not a nudist beach but you can be "nekad" if you want, we saw a few frightend turtles here and there, a few ladies were enjoying the sun, but our attention was to the west, but mr.C had this one, uhh, how should i put this, umm, fan, i guess is the best way, that would like excersize and jump when he caught a fish, it was hilarious"

Congrats on the beaners and corveeners! The corvina are swarmed up in some sections of MB right now. I give you credit for braving Black's Beach in the summer....personally, the only time I make it down there is in the winter as there are way less naked dudes schlonging around compared to the summer.
