Went up the 198 and around the 180 to Sequoia yesterday to see the two Giant Sequoia forests and the Cedar Grove at the end of the Kings Canyon road. Brought some fishing gear in case I ran in to any water. Never been up here before so I couldn't turn it down.

Saw lots of amazing things out there. Visited Hume lake and got a skunk there but only fished 1/2hr. Saw a small boat within casting distance of shore catch a nice rainbow trout though, and saw lots of bass fry but couldn't get any larger smallies to bite my stuff. (I didn't try fishing the lake for trout, only bass)

After Hume lake, I decided to drive the 30 miles down in to the end of Kings Canyon to try fishing the Kings and Roaring Rivers and a few creeks. Both rivers were moving pretty good with big flows.

I got in to do a bit of fishing with the Fly rod but first thing I slipped off a rock and smacked my right knee so hard it swelled up to the size of a softball. I hadn't even made it to the water yet. I was nursing the leg for a good 20 minutes from the pain. This pretty much prevented me from moving up or down the river on foot, so I decided to go check out a few more spots by vehicle. Drove around to a good 10-15 spots and tried the fly and a P-line slayer spoon on the spinning outfit along with it. Couldn't do any walking around cause my leg had swollen up just below the knee to literally the size of a soft ball.

Long story short, I got a skunk handed to me on an injury platter. I hit a lot of spots on the river but couldn't do any moving around. I don't even know if there is any trout in that river but by the size of it there has to be somewhere. Will have to stay home for a few days while the swelling goes down. It looks like I have two knees on my right leg :Rolls Eyes:

Here's some pics from the trip. Really awesome scenery, specially back there in Kings Canyon. I gotta learn some good spots to fish back here. The park ranger lady was telling us some areas that we never got around to. I didn't get pics of some of the awesome views from the canyon, but the river and mountains back there were simply amazing.

Like I said, I didn't get to fish the rivers much. I bailed just trying to walk down to the first river I came across and pretty much ruined it and put my knee out for a week or two. I did get to wet a line though and I wasn't really planning on much fishing on this trip anyways. It was more of a trip for my GF to get out and do some fun things for a change. Had fun seeing the sights, but sorry I couldn't include a fish for you guys  Enjoy the pics

next time your up there you should check out mineral king, its a cool drive up a dirt road thru some redwoods, and there are a few lakes pretty easily accessible. caught a few brookies up there in the river last year.

That is some nice scenary up there, I would love to take time off and do some fishing up there. I remember going up there as a kid with the family just to see the trees, and get wet in three rivers, hope your knee gets better-ouch
