great report ron. good to see the chovy's coming back my last trips down south still only had sardine. hard to get a bass bite going on horse sized baits

What a heart breaker on the victory kichi. Too bad you popped off that ling thanks to the guy who was trying to pull the plug to the bottom of the ocean.

I never thought about the stern being a challenge until you mentioned it. Most people rush to the stern for the edge that they get from the boat swaying and the current. You on the other hand rush to the back of the boat for the challenge of fishing next to newbs... good on ya.

Hi Chris,

Yes, we're getting a really good mix of finbait for the last 3 trips or so. Various sized covies too !! Although I dislike the Sardines .... as they attract the Sealions .... it's just something to be delt with on a moo-moo.

Honestly, if I were fishing bait, I'd concentrate on fishing the chovies.

Hi K3vin_kim,

Thanks. Actually this time it was my usual fishing rail-buddy. Things happen fast and the whole event only took less then 10 seconds or so. We both were hung at the same instant ... me on an imobile Ling and buddy on the reef. We both held our ground then my rod stared to undilate in that Ling surge but the boat swung and his line was over mine in a heart beat and even with about 10 cranks the line rubbed and fishy gone. I don't blame him at all ! Things happen so quick !! He felt bad as he knew what happened ... kinda the unspoken thing !! ha ha ha

Here's a funny one. Often the numbers to my left are taken later and I've had a string of trips where I've had 2~3 rent-rodders right beside me 4 trips in a row !!

You been fishin' big-time recently. Much enjoy those reports .... keep 'em coming !!

Thanks for the atta-boy. As we well know, fishing is tough locally and the trips I take are not WO affairs to catch high-value fish. You guys are loyal readers great fellow-FNNers to follow even when you know the trip report is not going to reflect fishng that's spectacular !!

Await your next report. Be assured, I read every word ..... well ... almost every word. Got a bad quirk of reading ahead (over) occasionally.

I agree, but first we gotta be lucky to hit some fishys in the biting mood. Dismal count or what locally !!! And I'm going out tomorrow and don't expect much !!

I hope we don't run into some baby cuda ! The clueless guys are dropping them on the deck and they're doomed !! Waste not want not !!
