Went on a overnight on the Liberty, out of Berth 55

We had abot 25 or so anglers on board. (nice lite load)

We left about 9:20 or so Captain Anthony said we were to make a stop at Catalina for squid, (2nd captain I think was Danny) we all gave 5 bucks to buy some and would get this back if we can get our own.

We couldn't get the squid to float the crew tried until 2:30am or so and finaly bought some, now off to Clemente!

Arrived at Clemente and started fishing about 6:30am a yellow was brought on deck within the first half hour. :)

We stayed at the first stop for a while and a few yellows were cught with some calicos.

Next stop to get some bottom fish and calicos, sheephead, whitefish, rockfish were brought aboard, 8)

The captain must of got a call form the Eldo (thanks guys) that the first stop we were at turned on so back we went. :P

Yellows coming over the rail pretty good with even hits on surface irons. The Eldorado and Tide Change ( i think) were close to us bringing them in also.

We were hollaring and having a good time and then the guys on the Eldo we hollaring back at us we were both bringing them on deck.

About a 20lb yellow won the jackpot most were in the 9,10,-14 lb range

We left to head for home about 1:30

It was a great time here are some pics below.

P.S. got stopped by the dept of fish and game they came aboared.

Me feeling good!

My final count
3-4 calicos, 2 white fish, 1 yellow, 2 sheephead (one worth keeping) , 1 red, and a bunch of perch released.

Boat count 30+ yellows, maybe 50 or more calicos, with some rockfish in the mix.
Good Crew, Captain, and good times!

Good for you homie!!
Yeah, I was on the Tide Change. Funny thing is, we actually called the El Dorado and bragged about how the fish were just jumping into our boat!! Ahahahaha!!! It was hilarious! Then I guess Anthony caught on and came over to us too!

Them yellers were fun!! Dude most of your pics, you're not smiling! WASSUP WITH THAT?!?! How could you not smile after duking it out with a homeguard of the California coast?!

Looks and sounds like a productive trip.

...yeah, I would be smiling with your catch.

I am not too familiar with Clemente, any rough idea what areas you fished?

Funjunkie74,

Thanks to you guys too! Sure glad we come over, man that yellow i caught was not big but never gave up fought like it was 10lbs heavier. So I should of been smiling but i was worn out just from that one.

EricU-
I'm not familar with Clemente maybe someone else can let you know where in heck i was.

It was a lot of fun, The Tide Change, Eldorado, and Liberty I think did the best on the counts compared to the rest that day at Clemente.

Right place, right time, right boat, right captain,= fun times.

Here, on your favorite FNN site:

Does this help any? I was just asking about a general area, not "the spot".

I would like to head there sometime and would like to a heading of sorts.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe I can help a little.
We were on the east side of the island. Evidently the west side is doing awesome but since they had been hitting that side hard, they would try the "other side". No location names were ever really mentioned, but it was clear that we were fishing somewhere along the south tip of the island.

One thing for sure regarding islands is that depending on the current for that day, the fish may be on the west side or the east side. You just never know....

Thanks for the comment guys,

BigBassFrank, They were checking the bait tanks to make sure the fish that were kept in there to stay fresh, belonged to someone that had a license and it was no ones that was trying to keep over limits I assume..

I forget to mention  most yellows were caught using a lead head 3/4 oz or smaller and even some leadheads up to a 1oz with live squid And also a sliding egg sinker about the same sizes with live squid. And as mentioned with some on irons. I got mine on a 1oz sliding egg.
