Since my trip was canceled to the channel islands on a private boat because of conditions. i decided to go on the native sun.
Got there at 4:45 and was the first one online , got my number and boarded the Native Sun at 5:50 a little after 6am . We where off to get bait. That took an hour so we were off the breakwall by 7:10. Capt. Jason Rico decided to make the cross to Catalina since it was slow locally. Got to the island a lil after 10am.
First stop. Managed the first Calico and First Bonito of the boat. Pretty much slim picking for everyone in the boat. Tons of short Calicos must have released 30-40 of them.
This was like this through out the day bonitos and calicos
called it a day at 3 pm docked 6pm
Final count for me was
6 bonitos 3-5lbs
5 calicos
1 sheephead
The crew was great 4 deckhands in the deck most of the time. Helpfully with everyone. If anyone would like to give the native sun a try give Ghetto Dad steve a call at long beach sportfishing for reservation 562-432-8993
