Fished out of Shelter Island with my good friend Martin “the looper” and 2 new fishing friends from the SC Surf Fishing website, James “Corbinafly” and Bing “bing”, aboard the “Big Drum”.

We had a blast fishing kelp patties for limits of Dorado and chasing Porpoise schools for limits of Yellowfin. We fished between the 371 Bank and Hidden Bank. Never saw any other boats the whole day, love it.

Here is a cool video of the trip that Bing put up on You Tube.

Here are some pics that James took on his camera. James did an awesome job treating us to freshly prepared Dorado ceviche, and Tuna and Dorado Sashimi. The fish tasted out of this world.

Iron fish, Dorado Ceviche, Aletas Amarillas, Martin's Big Momma, Vicente’s big bendo[/I]

russ - yuzu is a type of japanese citrus, it has a much more fragrant and tart flavor than limes and lemons. ponzu is usually a mixture of soy, dashi, lemon (or lime or yuzu) and some rice wine vinegar...

the ahi definitely was delicious. i just finished trimming and bagging out my haul from this trip and treated myself to a tuna belly (otoro) trifecta lunch:

1. torched with truffle oil and truffle salt
2. sushi
3. sashimi dressed with sesame oil and grated ginger
