The boat left bright and early at around 5:30ish.

On our way out to open water, captain stopped at a few kelp paddies for a few easy pickings of dodos...it got us all excited and our blood pumping, but their sizes were not very impressive...

around 10ish, we hit our first pod of dolphins and a few people started landing YFTs...

Noon came around, and the bite started to reallly pick up. The crew did an AWESOME job choreographing the shuffles...I ran into some nasty tangles with hard-headed people who REFUSED to budge (They were hanging onto the corner of the stern like it was their life!!!)...I just have gotten about three fish cleanly sawed off by their lines...but nonetheless, we continued to slay...

The bite continued all the way til 4:30PM, we were supposed to start heading back, but Captain decided that it was too good to give up just yet...so we stayed an extra 45 minutes to chase and make a few final "whack" at the schools...

We finally got back to the landing around 8ish

Total count for me:
3 YFT, in the 25-35 range, on 25#Pline flylined sardine.
No love on the irons!
One YFT was lost/misplaced!

A lot of little drama on the boat, but overall a good day. The crew was awesome and knew what they were doing...Captain's enthusiasm really kept the boat's morale up when the bite slowed down, and his persistence paid off for us big time!! I was a little bummed about my misplaced fish, but i still give them props for running a solid operation! Hope you guys enjoy the pics. YFT's and albies are here! get them while they're hot!!!

if you can't make it out to their 3/4r day, i heard that their 1/2 days have been doing pretty well island fishing for Yellowtails...i was suppose to be at work on Tuesday, but i traded my Saturday for someone else's Tuesday!

Yup, have you noticed, we caught more YFT than the 2 day boat? The captain was like "dude, you guys better keep hush about this when you get on the landing...the two-day guys are gonna be p*****sed"

This was one of the most action-packed 3/4r day runs for me ever!

Nice fish Andrew! :Big Grin: Too bad about the misplaced fish. That sucks!

I'm over it. I can only hope that it ended up going to someone who will make use of it and no waste it.

HOLY COW!!! What a trip and it was only a 3/4!! You better thank the fishing gods that they blessed you with this kind of day!!!!

my buddy and i still couldn't believe our dumb luck! But a good portion of the credit goes to the captain and his crew...

Hope things go well on Labor day. The fish was very good eating! I am in the process of curing some of it for sashimi. I didn't fillet the fish, just had them gut and gilled it, that way i could salvage the scrap meat in the head area for a nice tuna melt sandwich with eggs!! pan seared tuna is also good too...my buddy is smoking his. we even asked the deckhands to save the belly area off of the fillet'd fish for us (they normally throw this area away)...so as you can see, nothing goes to waste =)

NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE grade of YFT! WTG BRO!!!! GM<><

thanks! too bad i didn't take a better pic of the JP!!

we can all use more days like that! The guy that caught the most tuna on the boat landed a total woopin' 11 tuna on both flylined anchovy AND yoyo'ing a chrome/blue pattern iron. He was very generous and made sure his extra catch went to people who were less lucky...i believe he was also the only one on the boat to successfully land a tuna with an iron. One guy caught something on the troll...but that was because the captain decided to steer righttt over the school...

lol...thanks alan....i soooooo was ALMOST going to jump on one of their 3/4 day boats tomorrow....but, as usual, i couldnt..oh well, rockfish season is coming...thats all me...:Crying:

ghetto dad, rockfish from the Coronados are awesome ;) it beats catching dinky sculpin and sand dabs from our local waters!

Zombie Bass ATTACK, Calico Killer Kevin, bring cameras, take lots of pictures, I'm expecting to see a report from you guys! Good luck out there and tight lines!

Whoever jumped on the boat today had a killer time. They got over 100 tuna today. 77 were yellowfin. Looks like a full boat tomorrow.

im telling you, its definitely worth the money. The captain is awesome, too bad i forgot his name. he was blunt to the point of rudeness to some of the guys...but it was because he genuinely wanted people to land fish....knew exactlyyyy what he was doing. Their open water 3/4r is worth every cent of the $115
