Tried a new area today. Walked along a featurless strand until I found a little dip. First cast with fresh mussel, pb yfc. Second cast I foul some of the scattered kelp wads. The kelp gets sucked back out and my reel starts to buzz... and buzz... and buzz, stop, wiggle and then buzz some more. I "fought" what I guess was a SNGF for about forty minutes before a large mat of salad enveloped my line and we parted ways.
I rebaited and on the next cast stuck her little brother.

Fun getting in touch with my inner catfisherman again.
I moved down to some rocks and missed a couple more takes. On the way back to the car I picked up a nice perch on the crack.

I'm starting to like using fresh mussels. Only thing is, it takes about an hour out of my fishing time to collect them. I wonder how many days those things last out of the ocean.
