I have been fishing Big Pine Creek ever since I could walk and salmon eggs were pretty much the only bait I would use... There was no point in using anything else cause we would just kill the stalkers. Every once in awhile you would hook up with a lil brown but not very often. Well this year I decided to get myself a fly rod to try something new. I wont even touch a spinning pole now. I just killed the browns in Big Pine on the fly. Natural browns sure beat catching stalked rainbows. Alothoug most were only about 7 or 8 in., I still managed to get a few that were 10-13 in.

Nice going on the browns and the rainbow on the fly rod. I guess I will have to get a fly rod and give it a try sometime.

Thanks for the post & pics.

Nice fish dude. Must have been a fun trip!

Glad to hear you've seen the fly side of the force. Fly fishing is a blast!

If you plan to release though.. keep 'em out of the dirt and rocks and off the ground. It can really do a number on them. It's better to let them flop around in the water.

This pic.. the trout's eye is full of dirt. When he gets back to the water he's gonna have a tough time getting the dirt out of his eye.
