Fished Coffman Cove Alaska for a week. Just got back after a 3 hr Ferry Ride and 4 takeoffs and landings later I am home.
The week included 1 day of charter fishing, 16ft al skiffs (Lunds, w 25 hp o/b).
The first day we took a skiff out an trolled for salmon. We boated 5 silvers, 4 kings, 4 quillbacks, a lingcod and severalother species of rockfish.
2nd day took the charter and landed 2 "Chickens" and an "alaska belt buckle" along with several types of rockfish.
3rd day, went back out on the charter and landed a what the capt called a "harpoonable fish". A 60lb halibut. Once I got the fish next to the boat, the Capt stuck hime with a harpoon and let him go.Went on to land a few more in the 30-40 lb range
4th day I flyfished the rivers (With bears) and landed many pink salmon on the flyrods. My first on the flyrods.
Decided to rest on the 5th day, then trolled in the skiff a littl emore on the 6th.
Jerry, the owner of the bunkhouse is topnotch and a gourmet chef. We had fresh dungeness crabs about every other day, 5 min from the crab pots to the cooking pots and then to the dinner table.
I was told this was abad fishing year, but I can't complain. I came home with 100lbs of fillets.
I will post some pics when I get cleaned up and some more time.
