Hooked up with RayO at 6 a.m. and headed off to enjoy a day of pierfishing. The weather was overcast and cool with light winds. There was a lot of bait fish in the water from the surf to the end of the pier, smelt, sardines and queenfish.
Can you see baitfish?

We caught some smelt on the sabiki and here was the first catch:
13" shortie

Then a fat yfc or three on live smelt:

This short was about 15" and unfortunately had a split tail probably from the net...sorry!

I went to the end and caught some mackerel on squid and hooked up this prize:

It was a great multi-species day. The only bummer was the split tail halibut.
