I took my little aluminum boat “Red Drum” out to do an evening critter fish trip along with my good friend Dave “nighthawk1”. The wind was blowing about 15+ knots, so we had to endure a little pounding to get to the first spot.

It didn’t take long for Dave to get the targeted species in the boat. An ornery and hard pulling Finescale Triggerfish.

We had a blast pulling on a bunch of Triggers.

Here I am with a nice big female Sheephead.

After we got tired pulling on Triggerfish, Sheephead, Sculpin, Black Croaker, Senorita’s, Rock Wrasses and couple small Calico and Sand Bass, we decided to fish the lead head swim baits for some bigger Bass.

All fish were released to fight another day. I can’t wait to go again. HOOK-UP!!

Till next tide,

Nice job on the bass. Always freaks me out a lil when I see the triggers.
They just look so much like a tropical fish always takes me by surprise.

Can you keep those triggers?

Nice fish.

You can keep them but I prefer to let go because they are so much fun to pull on.

What kind of freaks me out it the sound of the Triggerfish "chump" when they bite down on the needle nose pliers, when I try to remove the hook. If they were to bite your finger, they'd most certainly bite your finger to the bone. They are a mean arse fish.
