good day/evening,

my buddy hit me up the other day about kayaking the bay, im all over that, so i said sure and plans were set. met up at 7am (8.9.08) loaded yaks, got coffee, and we were off. the fellow fisherman on this trip was fellow fnn member HuntnFish, and his buddy mr.R for post purposes, mr.R had never fished from a yak b4 and doesnt fish that often so beginners luck was sure to come his way. we hopped in the water and started our journey, with a flat upswing on the tide for awhile, but incoming none the less.

once we started fishing we saw rediculous amounts of bait fish of all sizes, chovies/smelt/dines of all sizes, pinner to catchable. i was like "great, i have to compete with this" but thats life. i was rigged with my procyon 6', abu cardinal, izor xxx smoke 8lb, 4 ewg gama worm hook, and gulp minnows chart. and watermellon pearl, game on. first fish was a targeted species, a legal spottie.

after that , not much happened for awhile so we moved on to another place, right when i was about done with that spot mr.R shouts fish on. he was all bent and solo about 100 yards from either of us, but ha faught it like a champ and landed this beast.

(and yes the fish is extended, its his first spottie)

so i started casting around were he got his fish, and landed this sandy.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/008.jpg

then i started pitching into the docks, got a ferocious hit, along with a fast paced fight, tripped out when i realized i had a makeral on the drop-shot, i know its just a mak, but really nice color, plus on the d/s....

after that HuntnFish locked up while throwing his sabiel, nice cuda, put up a good fight.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090006.jpg

stayed with the h20mellon pearl on the d/s pitching dockward, as i did my thing on the bottom i got smashed and had the fight of the day for me. this fish took me all over and i was stressing as he came close to the pillings. another targeted species.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090008.jpg

meandered around for awhile a few dinks here and there, a few more cudas for HnF, then i bring up a flattie, now i dont know what the record for smallest halibut caught is, but at my rate of shrinking flatties, ill be a contender for sure, heres my first.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090010.jpg

so im stoked i found open sand, as i continue pitching in that area i get hit again and bring up this beast of a dink.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090011.jpg

heres another tricky cuda release by HuntnFish

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090007.jpg

towards the end of this venture mr.R hooked up to a little flattie himself, teamwork shot.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090012.jpg

well those two had other plans for the remainder of there day, my plan was to fish, so i headed out to south mission and trekked out onto the jettie. once i found my spot i examined what i had to work with, it was about 1:30 and the tide was still upward, clear h2o. it was hot so i grabbd my camera and jumped in to take some pics of the underwater terrain, looks like calico territory to me.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090013.jpg

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090014.jpg

and sure enough, i stayed with my d/s watermellon pearl and landed this one bouncing along the kelp edge.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090016.jpg

and then this one as i ripped my bait up as so i wouldnt get snagged in seaweed, he just flew out of the grass and tore at my minnow.

http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll140/GOTFISSUES/200808090017.jpg

so i was stoked, my second stop alloted my bass trifecta for the day, nothing to huge but a great day with good company in the mornin, and good solitude towards the end, plus fish all threwout. want to thank HuntnFish again for the invite, i had a great time out there, and a was up to mr.R.

to fellow fnn and t57 members i appreciate your time and hope you all are water bound soon, ciao'
