I have never made it passed the bars and clubs in Carlsbad. The night life is hopping down there on Friday and Saturday nights. There is a great Seafood restruant right next to the train tracks off the Main drag in Carlsbad. The same guy who opened the Crab Cooker in Newport Beach opened this place. Try the Bacon wraped Scallops. OMG !!!!! You can see why I never get down to the beach.

The Fish House Vera Cruz is a very good place to eat. As far as piers go the closest pier is Oceanside Pier which is about 5 miles north. The closest pier south is Scripps Pier which is in La Jolla and is about 20 miles south. There are small jetties and lagoons in Carlsbad near the power plant which are very good fishing for halibut and other shorefish.
