got off work, pick up my bro, we left 1:15pm, pick up drink from Mc. Deez. , then later to 7-eleven store for bait, got down to pier about 2am
as we walk meet other FNN; zZaNg, etc. fishing here for mack, i showing them new phenix rod black diamond series rod, i let them have the feel on the rod, strengh, power, flexibility and weight of the rod, i going to test out, the one i have its both 8' 10-30lb & 15-40lb stik, w/ CTE400 17lb line and toruim 16 25lb line, when we got to end of the pier on the left side, phil bitting was slow so i change both rod to slide rig, going for bat ray, shovel nose, bottom feeder etc. anything while worth trying for some action, i cast one of them out, while setting up other rod for mackerel fishin , suddenly i heard a click from the bottom deweller setup so
i went up to the rod to check it out if its still gettin hits or movement, then nothing, later on putting on bontio fly rig on other rod w/CTE400
waiting till 6am, meet couple old folks, talk and chatting about bonito , he told bonito are coming back, i said well i ready for them, then i kept on catching mackerel one after another none stop, later i heard a click again, then running for its, hook up reeling in its a trigger fish good 6lb size, everybody tell me i am luck guy, then i cast its out again, while bonito showing, i cast it out, start jigging, then bang caught four bonitos, cast it out again, let drift, bang caught 4 on drop, again, then last time for bonito caught for again, then later start fishing for mack on last till 10am then shut off complete, going on packing my stuffs, check any last hits, then hear clicker again, start reeling in its trigger fish again, wow whopping two in the row, then gave up, got stuff, say good bye couple old people, got back home around 2pm beacause the traffic jam ahead, this most excited trip,
meeting other FNN member, and old timer, but i am not going out there again till next summer
TOTAL count:
bontio: 12 kept 3

Very nice triggers! Those fish look cool.
Never caught a trigger or a Bonito yet. Maybe I should try a pier again some day now that it's warmed up. Congrats on the catch! Good way to break in the new rod.

FYI, bonito only have to be over 24" if you have more than 5. Great looking triggerfish - didn't even realize that you could catch those as Redondo.
