Dang JapanRon. How long does it take you to produce each report? Someday, Someday...

Bet the guys were pretty jazzed to get into the dodos up there!!!

Dodos on a 3/4 day is awesome! I may have to make a road trip to try to get some mahi-mahi. Thanks for the informative report and interesting facts about Japanese dodo fishing.

Hi Gmoney,

Yes, there are a number of boats that are willing to make the gamble. I'm surprised I didn't see some of the 22nd's boats out there knowing a couple of glory hounds there !!

Hi bsp,

Me ..... I get no thrill from fishing for dodo wth 40 other people. Truth is ...... it didn't bother me at all to bag a dodo. Have to admit, I would have loved to at least hook one. If you see the life literally draining out of the beautiful creatures in a matter of a couple of minutes ....... to end a dull uniform gold color ..... a slight twinge of regret is the downside for me.

Don't know if the boats are going out again on the week-end or not. The landings might set up something special ..... who knows !!

Hi osilto,

Thank you much. It's kind of fun to remember the fishing in another time, another world. I would have thrown a deadly metal fishy .... Swedish made Cripple Minnow if I had brought the thing on the trip as it is a Dorado killer in Japan. Casts 2 miles (away from the boat and skittish fish), easily controlable sink rate, and retrieves as fast as you can crank with a 7.1:1 retreive reel !!

Tsurikichi, thanks for the post. It was a very very good one.

I got 1/2 of my sculpins on the plastic the other night.

Thanks for the report JR, cool to see the boats making the effort while the exotics are around locally. Breaded sculpin sounds really good right now.
